How exactly does the law of attraction work? Sometimes I am very pessimistic and the outcome is optimistic?
and vice versa. What is the explanation for that according to the law of attraction?
The result is actually very good, not mediocre.
Even though your thoughts about something are pessimistic you may have a very deep-seated and practiced belief that is working in your favor.
For example, if you think "I’m going to lose my job and be homeless" and you are feeling very pessimistic about your career you may be surprised to get a promotion.
But underneath your thoughts about your job in particular you may have a belief that supports your promotion such as "hard work pays off" or "good people are rewarded" or "I’m always going to be OK".
The opposite works, too. You are thinking positive thoughts about a date and it doesn’t work out. Perhaps underneath it you have a belief that "all the good ones are taken".
Dig into your beliefs about life.
Beliefs are really thoughts that you have been thinking over and over for so long that they seem unchangeable – although they can be changed.
Sometimes you are so used to your beliefs that you don’t even realize you have them…
…which is why Law of Attraction results can seem surprising at times.

I will give you a quick lesson on how attraction works, and how sexual desire evolved.
First off, one of the most basic of instincts inherit to all mammals is survival. When the first hominids roamed the earth, their survival was constantly under threat from famine, disease, starvation, warfare, being hunt down as prey from other carnivores, etc. And since the human population was very low as it is, there was always a sense of fear that the human race was at the verge of extinction. As a result, there was always a sense of urgency to locate a female to mate with, in order to produce offspring and safeguard the survival of the human species. This sense of urgency evolved to what we know of as sexual desire. So to sum it up, sexual desire is basically an urgency to mate and reproduce because your brain, on a sub-conscious level, still thinks that the human species is at the verge of extinction. So next time you see a female that you find very attractive, your brain (on a sub-conscious level) is saying to you “The human species is about to die out, and that female that just walked by is a prime candidate to mate with in order to produce offspring and ensure mankind’s survival”.
Now we come to physical attraction. Since the mortality rate was very high in “cave man” times, males wanted to locate females that were healthy enough to produce offspring. Since females nurture their young through lactation from the breasts, large breasts were a “more favorable” trait in the mindset of males searching for a mate, since they indicated a greater capacity at nurturing offspring. This led males to gravitate more towards females with larger breasts. After many thousands of years, it eventually became imprinted in the male psyche. That is why males today are more attracted to females with larger breasts. It is a remnant from an earlier time. Likewise, wider hips allow for easier passage of the offspring. That is why wider hips is more attractive to men.
Now to the woman’s side. As I’ve mentioned, war among humans and attack from wild animals were a constant threat. Therefore, females desired a male that was strong enough to protect their young from danger. Females were more drawn to males with large muscles and a well-developed body. This too eventually became imprinted in the female psyche. That is why when a woman today sees a man that is big and strong, they are automatically drawn to them.
As I’ve mentioned, sexual desire evolved because the human species was under constant threat of extinction. Sexual desire, therefore, is a remnant from an earlier time (kind of like the appendix). Since mankind is no longer under the threat of extinction (in fact, now we are in danger of OVERpopulation), this fact is slowly being imprinted in the human psyche from each passing generation. As a result, human sexual desire is diminishing. In simplistic terms, cave men were a lot more “horny” than modern humans. Scientists theorize that after a few millennia, humans will no longer have any sexual desire.
And if you’ve ever wondered why sex feels good, it is basically nature’s way of giving you an “incentive” to want to reproduce. For example, if sexual mating was a chore – with no pleasure involved – than the human species (and all mammals for that matter) would die out into extinction. The reason why it is pleasurable is nature’s way of giving you a constant need to desire a female, in order to ensure the survival of all species. Another explanation can also account for this. As I’ve mentioned, the humans often feared that they were going extinct. Since they were constantly trying to locate a female to produce offspring, the mating process was a sense of “triumph” and “victory” – the notion that a good mate has been located and is being impregnated. This may be the reason that pleasure is exceptionally elevated during the climax phase when a male ejaculates. It is a sense of relief and accomplishment of successfully procreating.
By the way, one last point to make, all this is just theoretical. It is still a mystery to many scientists why homosexuality occurs – the fact that one has sexual desire to whom their is no possibility of producing offspring. Likewise, the theory does not explain why some men prefer blondes over brunettes, for example – since hair colour has nothing to do with a female’s ability to produce offspring.
