Actually an awesome theory not one I necessarily agree with of course. I think a huge amount of lottery winners are like the hypothesis you have made. But many others will spend 10% of their winnings and put the rest in high interest savings accounts to live off (the smart way of doing things)

They always spent their money right when they got it even when they were poor. Now they are rich but still have that mentality and will never learn. It is why they were broke in the first place.

A much better example is this. We all have a comfort level with money. We can go above or below our own individual comfort level. Lotto winners are not comfortable managing high dollars so they spend spend spend. Donald trump is a good example. Went from billions to $0 back to billions. He is comfortable with billions. most people are uncomfortable with $ so they get rid of it.
If bob needs 100K to save his business, He sells 100K worth of Tv but only has 40% profit, So he only makes 40K and still needs 60K to save his business.The reason teh wealthy dont win teh lotto is because their time and money is better spent on other things with less odds.
